Complete your Bachelor of Arts in Information Science and eSociety and Master of Arts in Library and Information Science in an abbreviated period.
The MLIS accelerated master's program (AMP) allows exceptional BS in Information Science & eSociety students who wish to attend graduate school to earn their MS in Library & Information Science in as few as 18 months. AMP students may take up to 12 units of graduate coursework as undergraduates at the undergraduate tuition rate while retaining eligibility for undergraduate scholarships.
Accredited by the American Library Association, our top ranked library and information science program can be completed online or on campus. The interdisciplinary MLIS curriculum reflects the diversity of library and information environments, covering an array of professional perspectives-from archival studies to digital curation, and from public librarianship and academic librarianship to legal information-positioning graduates for a wide range of fascinating and important careers.
Admission Requirements
We recommend that interested Information & eSociety Science students speak to their undergraduate academic advisor about their interest in the program early in their undergraduate career to begin planning for the accelerated master's program.
Before students apply to the accelerated master’s program, they must have a 3.3 GPA or higher and have earned at least 75 units. Once you are accepted to the program and have earned at least 90 units you may begin enrolling in graduate level courses.

Progress to the PhD Program
MLIS graduates with strong research interests are encouraged to apply to the College of Information Science’s outstanding PhD in Information. Admission requirements are the same as the other candidates, but MSIS graduates may be able to utilize previously earned units towards PhD degree requirements.
